I worked for many years as a writer and editor for newspapers, magazines and the web. Since 2005 I have been Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing at Roehampton University, and carrying out research at UCL's Centre for Publishing on the editing arts. Other research interests include literary journalism and an exploration of how poetics and the concept of ‘story’ relate to nonfiction. I am a founding member of the International Association for Literary Journalism Studies, http://www.ialjs.org
